Misty hills, beautiful valleys, and breathtaking views all around— welcome to our Darjeeling gardens. Known as the Queen of the Hills, Darjeeling is where the world’s finest teas grow. Goodricke has five tea gardens in Darjeeling that produce world-renowned teas, each one steeped in history.
The first tea bushes at the Thurbo gardens were planted in 1872, with slopes rising from 2500 ft to 6000 ft above sea level. Thurbo teas are highly valued for their rare and authentic Darjeeling flavour, bright colour and mellow, distinctively sweet after-taste. The Badamtam garden stretches across three mountain ridges and extends from the Lebong Valley right up to Sikkim. It is completely organic and conforms to the highest standards of green certification. The Barnesbeg garden, planted by Christian Barnes between 1858 and 1877, enjoys a cool, balmy climate and produces exquisite green and black teas.
Margaret’s Hope is one of the largest tea gardens in Darjeeling, and blenders worldwide use its tea in their blends. The garden also houses a Salamander Lake, a natural habitat for salamanders and attracts researchers from all across the world. The Castleton garden’s emerald slopes border Kurseong town, making it the only garden within civic limits. The garden is divided into many sections, with each one retaining its traditional local name like Bhalu Kop (Bear Cave), Dhobitar (Laundry Line), Baseri (Shelter), and Jim Bacha (Jim’s Child).
