Electro Chlorination Process
Sodium Hypochlorite Solution is a powerful disinfectant and oxidising agent that effectively kills pathogens in water, preventing waterborne diseases like cholera, typhoid, dysentery, and more. Produced on-site using an electrochlorinator, it is made by passing electricity through a mixture of water and salt or seawater, generating a solution with a concentration of 7-8 grams per litre. This solution is easier to handle compared to commercial sodium hypochlorite, chlorine gas, or bleaching powder, making it a safer and more efficient choice for water disinfection.
These systems utilise electrolysis to convert a simple saltwater solution/seawater into a highly effective disinfectant. By passing an electric current through a brine solution, facilitated by specialised Titanium electrodes with an MMO coating, the generator effectively converts the salt into sodium hypochlorite. This process eliminates the need for transporting, storing, and handling potentially hazardous chemicals like concentrated commercial sodium hypochlorite, gaseous chlorine, or bleaching powder.
